Everton in the Community provides a football pathway so that any disabled person can reach their full football potential depending on their desire and ability.
Its disability programme currently has nine disabled teams that represent the Club. These teams vary from impairment specific such as Down Syndromes or amputee to teams of specific age and gender.
Everton in the Community’s PAN disability teams consist of people with different disabilities playing in the same team with a similar ability level. Our teams train every week and play in monthly local, regional, national and sometimes international competition.
The project gives many benefits for disabled people including reducing social isolation, increasing vital social interaction and competitive opportunities.
Each year, the charity hosts the prestigious ‘Disability Player of the Year’ Awards where the community project recognises and celebrates the achievements of the disabled participants.
Despite the project very much a grassroots scheme, since its inception, over 50 disabled participants have gone on to play internationally and represent their country through European Championships, World Cups and at Paralympic level.
